The Safer Space Principles are guidelines on how to be considerate and respectful of everyone. The Safer Space Principles, as commonly defined, are particularly relevant for minority groups who have experienced discrimination and who fear that they will be treated inappropriately again.
The Safer Space Principles apply to everyone in the sports facilities, including both customers and staff. We hope everyone can feel welcome and be themselves with all their personal qualities, in line with Finnish law, regardless of their age, ethnic background or nationality, language or culture, religion or belief, opinion, political activity, family relations, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, state of health, disability, social or economic status or other personal quality such as skin colour, body size, appearance, or neurodiversity.
The City of Tampere is committed to non-discrimination and accessibility. We object to discrimination or racism in line with the city's equality and non-discrimination plan.
Respect for others Treat others as you would like others to act towards you. Focus on your own actions and allow others to also have a positive experience.
Bodily integrity Respect the bodily integrity of everyone, both in your words and in your actions.
Non-discrimination Respect the diversity of other people. Discriminatory or racist speech and actions are prohibited. Everyone has an equal right to enjoy their visit to the swimming facility and gym.
Intervention Behave in a civil, respectful manner and expect others to do so too. If you witness discrimination, harassment, or any other inappropriate behavior, report it to the staff immediately. The staff has the right to remove anyone who violates the Safer Space Principles or the facility’s rules.
